Hantavirus Tracker · A public-health monitoring app.

Last updated: November 18, 2026 · Published by VelaVia, LLC

Hantavirus Tracker is built to inform, not to harvest. No account. No health data collected. No symptom or exposure logging. Location is opt-in, checked once on tap, and never stored or sent off the device. No tracking, no profiling, no selling. The app is free and supported by Google AdMob — see Section 5 for the limited data Google processes.

Privacy at a glance

What we collect from you: nothing — except the advertising ID Google AdMob uses to serve ads (you can reset or limit this in your Android settings).
What stays on your device: your device's location (opt-in, used once on tap, never sent to us).
What we don't collect: account info, health data, symptoms, exposure history, contacts, photos, microphone, browsing history, identity documents.

1. Who we are

Hantavirus Tracker is operated by VelaVia, LLC, a US company headquartered in Sacramento, California. Contact: tommy@velavia.io. For purposes of GDPR/UK data protection, VelaVia is the data controller for any personal data processed by the app.

2. What we DO NOT collect

The fastest way to explain our privacy stance is to start with everything we don't do:

3. What stays on your device

3.1 Location

The app has a "Use my location" button on the map. When you tap it:

3.2 App preferences

Local UI state — last viewed map filter, prevention-checklist progress, dark/light preference — is stored in standard app local storage on your device. It is cleared when you uninstall the app. None of it is transmitted to us.

4. Public health data we display

Outbreak alerts, news headlines, country case counts, virus profiles, and historical outbreak data are aggregated from public sources (CDC, WHO, PAHO, ProMED-mail, Reuters, AP, BBC, Google News, GDELT, Wikipedia, state and national health departments). These are not personal data — they're public health information republished with attribution and a verification label. Source content remains the property of its original publisher; we link back to every original source.

5. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The app is free to download and use. To support development, we display ads served by Google AdMob (a service of Google LLC). What this means for your data:

Google AdMob operates under its own privacy policy: policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

6. Crash diagnostics

If the app crashes, Google Play (Android Vitals) may receive a basic crash report containing a stack trace, device model, and OS version. This is processed under Google's standard developer terms and contains no personal content from inside the app.

7. Children

Hantavirus Tracker is rated for adults — 18+ — because of medical/health content. The app is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect any data from anyone under 13 (under 16 in the EU). If you believe a child has somehow provided us with data, email tommy@velavia.io.

8. Your rights

Because we don't collect or store personal data about you, the simplest exercise of your rights is to:

For California (CCPA/CPRA), EU/UK (GDPR), and Canadian (PIPEDA) residents: the rights to access, correct, delete, and port personal data are guaranteed by law. We honor them globally. Email tommy@velavia.io.

9. Security

App traffic to our content delivery and update endpoints is encrypted with TLS 1.2+. Because we don't store personal data, there is no user profile or password to compromise. We use industry-standard practices to protect the public-health data feeds we serve.

10. International transfers

VelaVia is a US company. The public-health content the app fetches is served from US-based infrastructure. Where applicable to ad processing, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses for any cross-border transfers from the EU/UK.

Not a medical device

Hantavirus Tracker is for informational and educational purposes only. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Nothing in the app is medical advice. If you have symptoms after possible rodent exposure, contact a healthcare provider. For emergencies, call your local emergency number.

11. Health Apps declaration

Hantavirus Tracker has been declared as a Health App on the Google Play Console. We have agreed to Google Play's Health Apps requirements: providing accurate health information, displaying clear medical disclaimers, never claiming the app diagnoses or treats disease, and routing users to qualified medical care for any health emergency.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be highlighted in the app and at the top of this page. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
